Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital (SYMH), Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, Nigeria, West Africa is a specialist hospital which was built in 1952 with native authority funds. It was commissioned in December 1952 as a general hospital with a maternity and three wards [One male ward and Two female ward] .
The first indigenous medical doctor was Dr Lodi and the charge nurse was mallam Aliyu Lemu while the maternity unit was manned by two European nursing sisters…

Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital is the only tertiary health institution owned by Kebbi State government. It covers referred cases from all general hospitals in and outside the state. It also doubles as training health facility for students from school of nursing and midwifery Birnin Kebbi, school of health technology Jega and Umaru Waziri federal polytechnic Birnin Kebbi, all in Kebbi State.
